Run 2003 mdb under 2010, Export to Excel doesn't work

I developed an Access 2003 mdb application with a custom menu bar. I put the Office Link Export to Excel and Export to Work on it. When I run this app on a machine with only Access 2010 (no 2003), Export to Word (*.rtf) works fine, but Export to Excel (*.xls) button produred the following error:

The format in which you are attempting to output the current object... (Access error: 2282)

    Any help? Thanks in advance.

Is that system completely up to date? IIRC, MS removed that functionality from ac2010 and then put it back in in an update.

I used Microsoft Update custom to check, there're no outstanding Windows or Office 2010 updates. My Windows XP SP3 system seems up-to-date. If that fix is a separate download from MS, where do I go to look for it?

I googled and found a bit more info on this issue. Everyone's saying just install Office 2007 SP2 to fix the problem. Well, I'm using 2010, not 2007. My Office 2010 is fresh install and up-to-date (according to Microsoft Update). I'm really puzzled.

Oh, just to clarify, if I bypass my app's Startup and go straight to the Report, I can then use "->Excel" button fro built-in Ribbon's Data tab to export the report to Excel. However, if I start my app normally, it hides the build-in ribbon and displays my custom menu bar which is created in Access 2003, then the Office Link export to Excel doesn't work.

    Thanks.

Hi SigmaBK - I'm seeing the exact same issue you described in your post. Did you ever find a solution to this? Thanks in advance for any help you can share.

There's no fix to the problem, only work around. When Microsoft decided to abandon toolbars/menubars and went for Ribbon, apparantly compatibility wasn't on their mind. Access 2007/2010 ribbon simply breaks all my Access 2003 apps that use custom toolbars/menubars. Good job, M$!!!

To work around it, I created custom right click menu and put 2010 Export to Excel on it. Told my 2003 users to continue using the menubar and 2010 users to right click.

Please reply to this thread with any new information or opinions.
